Why UCP
Connectivity Shouldn’t Be Complicated
We’re Here to Change That
We created the Universal Connect Project (UCP) to help close the gaps in connectivity performance and experiences that financial providers and consumers see today.
Consumers need a consistent, reliable way to connect their financial accounts. Full stop. But, delivering on that promise is easier said than done.
Financial institutions and fintechs face an impossible challenge — ensuring whatever aggregation solutions they use can allow consumers to reliably connect to ALL of the third party accounts they need. But every data aggregator offers a different interface and achieves different results based on the institution, geography, or account type.
Here’s where we’re headed:
No more mishmash of user experiences.
One Universal Connect Widget that simplifies and standardizes the user experience.
No more performance gaps.
Clear performance data and visibility into which aggregators work across institutions.
No more manual guesswork.
Dynamic routing ensures the best connection possible every time.
The UCP is currently routing traffic to MX and Sophtron. If you would like to use another aggregation provider, please open an issue on our GitHub page and a member of the community will enable it for you.
Yes! One of our community goals is to have global coverage by the end of 2025 but this means we need your help. If you would like to use another aggregation provider, please open an issue on our GitHub page and a member of the community will enable it for you.
Our Universal Connect Widget lets you easily embed an account aggregation flow into your online or mobile experience. Regardless of which data aggregator you choose to use, this widget creates a consistent, simple experience for users to add a third party financial account.
Absolutely! We created a consistent interface and flow to guide a user through connecting their account. But, you can customize the colors, instructions, and more to align with your brand. To learn more, view our documentation.
Our Institution Server provides clear information about which data aggregators are available to enable connections to various financial institutions and fintechs. You can use this to power the account aggregation options within the UCW — and soon, we’ll have the ability for you to choose to upload your own list of financial institutions to display.
Anyone can help improve the Universal Connect Project. When new companies adopt our code, they help improve it by opening issues, contributing bug fixes, and suggesting design changes. If you want to get even more involved in our community, connect with us and we’d love to chat!
